Note — draft version
DRAFT, not yet legally approved. This policy describes the website's technical state with anonymous reach measurement and consent-based statistics, session recording and company recognition (since October 2026). To be legally reviewed before it is relied on. The German version is authoritative. As of: 2026-10-24.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files a website stores in the browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and fingerprinting. A distinction is made between strictly necessary cookies (required for operation) and non-necessary cookies (e.g. for statistics or marketing), which may only be set with prior consent.
What does this website store?
This website sets no cookies. In your browser's local storage it keeps your privacy choice (with its version and date) and, only if you have agreed to statistics, a random identifier of the statistics service PostHog, together with the name of the organisation found if company recognition is on; PostHog then also keeps technical entries in session storage for the current session. Without your consent the statistics service stores nothing on your device. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising or social-media pixels and no external content delivery networks from US providers.
Consent
Anonymous reach measurement (see «Statistics (PostHog)») runs whatever you choose and stores nothing on your device. Your consent is needed for two things, which you can allow separately: «Statistics», for PostHog to keep a random identifier in your browser and to record your session with all content masked (see «Session recording (PostHog)»), and «Company recognition», for us to find out which organisation's network you are connected through (see «Company recognition»). Choose «Accept all» in the banner or switch the categories on one by one under «Settings». Without a decision, and with «Only necessary», no identifier is stored, nothing is recorded and no organisation is looked up. If your browser has «Global Privacy Control» or «Do Not Track» switched on, we measure nothing at all, not even anonymously, and the banner is not shown. Your choice holds for twelve months or until this policy changes; you can change or withdraw it at any time with «Cookie settings» in the footer. A withdrawal takes effect at once: for statistics, the recording ends, the stored identifier is deleted, the page reloads, and from then on only the anonymous measurement runs; for company recognition, the organisation's name is removed and not recorded with any further page view. Strictly necessary operations, such as storing your choice, may take place without consent under Art. 45c lit. b of the Swiss Telecommunications Act and under the GDPR/ePrivacy framework.
Statistics (PostHog)
We count page views with PostHog, which we run ourselves on our own servers; the data goes to no third party. We record the page viewed, the referrer, browser, operating system, device type and approximate location (country, region, city, postcode). Our server derives the location from your IP address using a local database; the IP address is then discarded and not stored with the page view. If no location can be determined, it stays in a technical log for up to 90 days. No cookies are set and no personal profile is built. Without your consent, the random identifier PostHog counts a page view with lives only in the browser's memory and expires when the page is reloaded or closed; every page view counts as a new visit. With your consent, the identifier is kept in your browser's local storage so returning visits and sessions are recognised. It is not linked to your name or anything else about you, and it is deleted as soon as you withdraw consent, or at the latest on your first visit after your choice has expired. Retention of the statistics data: 180 days, then automatic deletion.
Session recording (PostHog)
Only with your consent does PostHog record how you use the website: the layout of the pages, mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and page changes. This shows us where the website is unclear or does not work. All text on the page and everything you type into form fields is replaced by placeholders in your browser and never reaches us. Console output, the content of network requests and canvas graphics are not recorded. The recording starts only with your consent and ends when you withdraw it; it is linked to the random identifier, not to your name. The recordings are kept on our PostHog server and in OVH SAS object storage in Paris (France). Retention: 90 days, then automatic deletion.
Company recognition
Only with your consent to «Company recognition» does our server check, on each page view, which network your IP address belongs to. It uses a local database on our own server, DB-IP's «IP to ASN Lite» (db-ip.com, licence CC BY 4.0); nothing goes to a third party. If the network belongs to an organisation, such as your employer, a university or an administration, we store its name, its network number (AS number) and, where known, its domain with your page views. For selected organisations, such as public authorities, banks and insurers, the name and domain come from a list of our own. This lets us prepare enquiries from organisations better. Connections through an internet provider, a mobile network, a cloud service or a VPN yield no name and are discarded, and so are networks registered to a private person: we never store a person's name. The IP address itself is neither stored nor logged for this. The name of an organisation does not by itself identify you; for very small organisations, however, it can point to a person. Retention: 180 days, like the other statistics data, then automatic deletion.
Server logs
When the website is accessed, the web server processes technical access data (IP address, timestamp, requested path, HTTP status, user agent) to deliver and secure the service. These logs are deleted automatically after seven days. Details are set out in the privacy notice.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Independently of this website, you can at any time view and delete cookies stored in your browser and restrict or block the setting of cookies. The relevant settings are found in your browser's privacy/security options.
